Used Forklift Parts
A forklift occupies a rather interesting niche among industrial equipment. Overall, it is one of the easiest pieces of equipment to operate. They tend to take less abuse than does other industrial equipment and some models are downright small compared to the size of most industrial equipment. They do, however, perform a good deal of hard work and parts will wear out. Depending on one's applications for the machine, used forklift parts may offer some significant savings over purchasing new equipment.
The parts that make up a forklift, if maintained properly, are usually far more durable than most of the tasks performed with these devices necessitate. It is very rare to see the forks stressed to their limit by a load and the hydraulics are seldom truly taxed. However, these devices tend to be used on a far more regular schedule than does other equipment. An excavator may be used heavily for a few months out of the year and parked for the remainder but lift trucks are usually working away year-round. This tends to make parts an ongoing expense for the owners of these vehicles.
Used forklift parts are oftentimes taken off of machines that have failed in some regard but which still have functioning systems which may be useable. For instance, the engine on a lift truck may blow out but the hydraulics may well be in good working order and worth money. Purchasing such parts new can be very expensive and, if one is installing them on a machine that has been around for a while, that purchase may constitute buying a new saddle for a very old horse. Consider purchasing used to save money while still being assured of a good service life from the used parts.
Because lift trucks are very durable, used forklift parts are oftentimes purchased to replace parts on older machines. This is a great way to maximize the investment on any piece of equipment. It is not rare at all to see lift trucks from the 1970's and 1980's cruising around a warehouse and there is no reason to replace them outright if they're still performing well. Finding used parts for these trucks can be a bit of a challenge sometimes, but a good supply house can generally point one in the right direction. By doing so, one is able to keep their fleet in good working order for many years.
